Who We Are...

Welcome to the blog of Hatcher & Associates in Findlay, OH. We are a full service provider of: home & auto, commercial, life, health, long term care and cancer insurance as well as financial services products. Our phone number is: 567.525.5389. My email address is: dhatchere AT gmail DOT com. On each post I intend to address a different issue involving insurance and financial services products such that over time you may become well versed in insurance: what it means, how it works and what all of those terms on your declarations page mean.

I suppose we should address the declarations page first. This is the cover sheet that you receive every 6 or 12 months depending upon whether your policy renews every 6 months or 12 months. It tells you the dates of the policy, the policy number, coverages, costs and charges associated with the policy. It also includes sections that tell you who is covered on the policy as well as what is covered. On an auto policy it tells you which cars are covered, likewise a home policy will tell you which property addresses are covered. It lists each coverage on your policy as well as how much that particular coverage costs. If it does not show a coverage and a charge for the premium for that coverage then that coverage is not on your policy. Example: If rental reimbursement (which covers a rental car while your car is in the shop due to a covered loss) is not listed on your declarations page or it is listed but no monetary amount is shown under premium charge - it is NOT covered on your policy. Contrary to popular belief, a rental car is not paid for by your insurance just because you have full coverage. Full coverage pays for the damages to your car but does not pay for a rental car itself. Just because you told your agent that you wanted rental reimbursement, or just because you had it at some other time on some other policy does not necessarily mean that you have it now! Do the research, look at your declarations page and make sure you have the coverage that you want and think that you have! The time to make sure you have what you need is now, not after a loss!

Call, click or email us if you need help interpreting your policy and/or coverages or if you just want to make sure you have fair rates and the coverages you want and need!
